Soooo behind...

I am so sad that I have been such a horrible blogger.  I really want to have everything on here to have things documented, but just haven't been good at that.  I am hoping that with birthdays and holidays I will maybe get into the swing of things...bummer though that blogger is different than it used to be...hope that I can figure it all out!  Feels like so much has happened over the past year since I last posted...wow!  Maybe the biggest change is moving...we moved at the end of April.  We have moved quite a few times (4 times in 8 years), but this move was the hardest one.  We were both sure that Saratoga Springs was where we would be for a long time...until our kids graduated high school.  When an employment opportunity arrived, things just seemed to line up.  I was dragging my feet and was not excited about moving...but it is amazing how when you turn things over to the Lord, things just line up...whether you want them to or not.  ;)  Everything just seemed to fall in place, which made me realize that this was what we were supposed to do.  I still terribly miss Saratoga Springs and my friends there, but I know that where we are now is where we should be.  Our home is great (no steep driveway...those of you who have been to our home in Saratoga will definitely appreciate that!), our neighborhood is great, we are closer to family, and much more.  I was also blessed to be able to find a part time job up here...which I was worried about.  I still really miss teaching at Daybreak, but so thankful to have a job.  This better be the last move for a long time...I hate change!  I get too attached to people!

Here is a pic of our new home before it was completed...I should just post a picture of it now, but it's freezing and snowy and dark outside...maybe later!  We do have to put in a new yard again...yuck...what were we thinking?!  ;)

Lots lots lots more to post!  Bridger turns 7 on Tuesday...how does that happen so quickly?!  I will try to slowly get caught up or at least pick up from here on out!

6 already...

How does time fly so quickly?!  I can't believe my cute baby Bridger is already 6 and definitely not a baby any more!  He started the day with a room decorated and a gift from the birthday fairy.  He's been asking for a pirate themed birthday, specifically Pirates of the Caribbean, so the birthday fairy gave him a pirate book.  He was so excited to see all the decorations and so excited for his day!  He chose for breakfast the same thing he chooses every year...chocolate chip pancakes!  After breakfast, we got ready for church...the primary program was on Bridger's birthday.  He did great!  He had a line to say with the whole class and had it memorized very early on.  He also had a part to say on his own.  His part was "To Follow God's Plan".  When he was practicing the part, he kept teasing me saying he was going to say "To Follow God's Direction."  I told him not to tease about it because I didn't want him to slip up and say it that way.  Sure enough, he gets up to say his part and says "To follow God's Direction...wait, I mean it's actually, To follow God's plan!"  So cute and funny!  Love my Bridger!  After church, we came home visited for a bit, then had dinner...taco soup...Bridger's choice.  I loved it because it was easy to make for everyone!  After dinner, we moved on to presents.  Bridger was definitely spoiled!  He got a couple of shirts, a nice jacket, a dart gun, glitter glue, a book, Green Lantern House, Pirates of the Caribbean Legos, Batman coloring book, and a remote control truck.  He was pretty excited about everything he got!  He also got some very nice gifts in the mail.  He got cards from both of Josh's grandmas with money in it.  He also got a book, "The Adventures of Awesome Man" (totally cute book), a game called Slamwich, and a superhero card from our sweet and fun friend Gail.  He received many phone calls from people wishing him a happy birthday! All our guests...gotta love the buggy eyes pictures, by the way!  Everyone that was able to come to his party was:  Grams and Gramdpa, Felicia, Greg, Kayley, Trevor, Sheena, JZ, and Ryker.  Such a perfect day to celebrate such a great little boy!  Sure love my Bridger!  Just so I remember, some of the fun things he is into...art, making pictures for people, Batman, Pirates, Garfield, pizza, chicken nuggets, green, blue, red, reading, playing games, loves things to be clean and organized, and he is so witty and humorous...and so much more!  We love you Bridger, happy 6th birthday!  We are so blessed that you came to our family 6 years ago!

Bridger-isms and Kenna-isms...

This post was typed a long time ago, and I never posted it.  Some of these have been shared on Facebook, but I wanted them on my blog so I can print it all out.  I am slowly going to start trying to get better at getting into the world of blogging!  Not guaranteeing a ton, but will do what I can.  For now, here are some funny things Bridger and Kenna have said...mostly so I remember them!

*One night at dinner, Josh kept teasing Kenna.  She was getting very frustrated with him, and finally yelled "Stop it!"  Josh loved that so he kept going...she got all serious and mad and said, "If you don't stop I am going to poke your eye!"  Not sure where she learned that...Bridger said a kid at the babysitter's says that...so maybe that's where!
*We decided it was about time for Kenna to get a pillow...we went to Walmart and she was very excited to go shopping to get a new pillow.  When we picked one out, she wanted to carry it.  Josh wanted her to just keep it in the cart, so Kenna began to cry and throw a fit.  Josh told her he was going to put it back, which of course upset her even more.  When she calmed down, he went back and got the pillow and put it back in the cart...then the whole scenario repeated.  Finally, I told Josh to just go look in the sporting goods while Kenna and I got groceries.  On our way to get groceries, Kenna took a deep breath, looked at me and said, "Mom, Dad is really pissing me off."  I could hardly believe what I heard coming from my 2 year old...I asked her what she said, just to make sure and she repeated it.  Awesome, my two year old has a great vocabulary...luckily she hasn't said that since, so I don't think it's a regular in her vocabulary!
*Bridger was outside waiting for the dog to go potty...he got tired of holding the leash and waiting for him to go, so he found a hole where Josh removed a fence post, dropped the leash in and buried it with rocks so the dog couldn't pull away...talk about being resourceful.  4/20/2011
*Kenna was screaming about something, so I told her no screaming.  She replied, "I'm not screaming, I'm squawking!!"  5/5/2011

*Josh and Bridger were driving in Josh's truck.  They had to stop at a red light.  Bridger looks at Josh and said, "Dad, I know who's in charge...Jesus and stop lights!"  5/6/2011
*We ask Kenna every morning what she dreamed about last night...pretty much every morning she says, "I dreamed about cereal" or "I dreamed about snacks." I'm thinking she wakes up hungry...funny girl! 6/1/2011
*We were at the park and Kenna was there with her little friend Claire.  While they were playing, there was a little boy there who kept causing problems...hitting other kids, taking things, etc.  Kenna apparently had enough of it, so she grabs Claire's hand, starts walking toward the little boy and says to Claire, "Let's be mean to him!"  I quickly told her no, she looked annoyed, grabbed Claire's hand again, and says all sassy "Come on Claire" and walked away.  Where does she get this little teenage attitude from already?!  6/2/2011

*I told Bridger that he needed to quickly get ready for karate, he looked at me and said, "Hell yes, sir!"  Oh my goodness...after explaining to him (and trying to stay serious) that we don't say that, I asked him where he got it from...he said Monsters Vs. Aliens...awesome!
*I was helping Kenna change her clothes after an accident.  She looks at me and says, "Yea!  I didn't have an accident!"  I told her that she did have an accident, so she replied, "Oh, um...yea!  Bridger didn't have an accident!!"  6/3/2011
*I finally purchased door knob covers because I was sick of Kenna getting into the bathroom and making a big water mess and sick of her going outside...Kenna was not happy about this.  We walked by the bathroom and I asked Kenna if she needed to go potty...she looked at the doorknob cover and replied all offendedly and with attitude "No, I don't need to go."   6/6/2011

Easter Sunday...

Bridger and Kenna were so very sweet to sleep until about 8:15, it was so nice to get up and get ready before they even got up...we keep waiting for them to wake up early on Christmas and Easter, but so far so good...we'll keep our fingers crossed that it will stay that way!  They were very excited to see that the Easter Bunny left some eggs in their room, and then they kept finding them all over the house.  I loved their reactions every time they found an egg...they were so excited, I don't want them to ever loose that childhood joy, I absolutely love it!  Kenna walked around with an open egg, eating candy as she was collecting more eggs.  Towards the end of rounding up all their eggs, they managed to find their Easter baskets.  The Easter Bunny was good to them...probably knew that they needed some spring/summer items!  Bridger got new church clothes...his old church pants were way too small on him.  He was excited to have a white shirt and tie, because he would look "just like daddy".  He also got shorts and a shirt, a Camelbak pirate waterbottle,  Batman Lego game and a Kung Zhu pet.  Kenna also got clothes, including her Easter dress, camelbak waterbottle, shoes, and a pink Zhu Zhu puppy.  The kids had a blast playing with their Zhu Zhu pets today!  For breakfast we had yummy orange and cinnamon rolls, then we got all ready for church and had an amazing Easter Sunday meeting.  After church, we had a nice dinner, then Whitney and Dani had to leave...we love having them here, so it's always sad when they have to leave.  We decided to make the rest of the evening completely devoted to the true meaning of  Easter and the Atonement.  We watched "To This End Was I Born" and used that as a great opportunity to discuss in more detail the meaning of Easter.  It was a great Easter Sunday, we are very blessed and fortunate.
***Tomorrow I will post pics of their Easter clothes...it was quite an ordeal to get a decent picture...just wait until you see some of the hilarious ones I took!

Family Easter Party...

Yesterday we also went up to Josh's grandma's house for her annual Easter Party.  She puts a lot of work into the party every year!  The kids had a blast.  It started out with them hunting for lots of goodies outside, from chips to Sunny Delight to M&Ms and more.  After that we had a delicious dinner and visited.  Following that, the kiddos had to find the gift that she hides around the house for them.  She had to start writing down where she hides them because she is so good at it that it sometimes takes us a very long time to find the presents.  Bridger got some nice new shorts, Kenna got a cute little pink outfit.  After dessert we headed over to Josh's parents house to visit with them.  They were spoiled more with clothes, shoes for Kenna and a lemonade jug for Bridger (he's been making a lemonade stand in our basement lately, so this is perfect for him!).  We had a nice time visiting with his parents for a few hours and the kids had a blast playing outside in their awesome sandbox!  Our children are definitely loved...my mom also sent them a fun Easter package full of all sorts of fun suprises...they think it's pretty sweet to get a package with such fun goodies!  When we got home for the night, they got ready for bed, put out their baskets, left some carrots for the Easter bunny, read Here Comes Peter Cottontail, and went to bed excited for Easter morning.  Bridger was cute though...before he went to bed, he said, "I'm not as excited for Easter because that means the twins are leaving tomorrow."  So cute and sweet.
